Full-Stack Software Engineer
About IN BOLD PRINT:
Our software platform helps small to midsize companies in the consumer goods space measure their carbon emissions to meet regulatory requirements and drive revenue growth. Think of IN BOLD PRINT as the ‘TurboTax’ of carbon accounting.
IN BOLD PRINT is a female-founded, venture-backed startup based in Chicago. We just completed another successful capital fundraise and are looking to grow our team as we launch into this next phase of rapid growth! With a round full of both institutional investors and strategic, corporate partners, we are set to move quickly and take the industry by storm.
About the Role:
IN BOLD PRINT is seeking an experienced, independent Full-Stack Software Engineer to lead the greenfield development of the next generation of our data-driven platform. You’ll build MVPs quickly to gather feedback and iterate, while balancing short-term needs with long-term scalability. As the primary technical resource, you will be responsible for all development efforts, working with the CTO for technical support. The founders will provide the "what" and "why"—subject matter expertise, user feedback, and product roadmap—while you own the "how". This role requires a product-minded engineer who can build, iterate, troubleshoot, and ensure production-ready systems.
Initially, you will spend 80% of your time on front-end development, with increasing back-end work as the platform and team grow, giving you the flexibility to determine your focus over time.
In This Role, You Will Work On:
Greenfield Development: Develop the next generation of our platform from the ground up, balancing MVP delivery with scalability
Front-End Development: Develop responsive, user-facing features with React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to provide seamless user experiences
Back-End Development: Build APIs, manage business logic, and work with databases to support platform functionality
Production-Ready Systems: Ensure solutions are stable, secure, and compliant, suitable for production environments with active users
Data-Focused Engineering: Develop with a focus on accurate, consistent data that meets audit and security standards (experience with data engineering or data analysis is a plus)
Prototyping & Iteration: Quickly build and test MVPs, gathering feedback from users and stakeholders to guide improvements
Roadmapping & Technical Direction: Provide estimates and technical guidance to align development efforts with the product roadmap
Testing & Troubleshooting: Write and test code thoroughly, follow best practices, and troubleshoot production issues as they arise
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Document code, decisions, and improvements to ensure team flexibility and smooth handoffs
Technology Evaluation: Continuously assess new technologies and integrate third-party services to enhance platform capabilities
We’re looking for:
